Established in 2002 in the pristine foothills of the Tianshan Mountains, Xiangdu Winery has become a benchmark for China’s burgeoning wine industry. Located in Yanqi County’s mineral-rich alluvial plains, the estate benefits from a unique microclimate—3,400 annual sunshine hours, dramatic diurnal temperature shifts, and pure snowmelt irrigation—creating ideal conditions for cultivating premium grapes. Strategic investments in French oak barrels, Italian bottling technology, and a 10,000-ton production capacity have positioned Xiangdu as an industry leader, with its AAA-rated winery becoming a flagship tourism destination in Xinjiang.
The winery’s success stems from its fusion of international expertise and sustainable practices. Collaborating with CFPPA professor Dominique Roy and renowned Chinese oenologist Yang Huafeng, Xiangdu adheres to a “vineyard-first” philosophy, producing terroir-driven wines that reflect Xinjiang’s distinct character. Its portfolio—spanning from the signature Jinbeina red to premium brandies—has garnered acclaim for balancing French winemaking traditions with the region’s untapped potential, cementing Xiangdu’s status as a standard-bearer for China’s premium wine revolution.

In 1998, Xiangdu Winery began cultivating wine grapes on reclaimed land and established its company in 2002 to commence winemaking. It is a subsidiary of Xinjiang Jinhong High-Tech Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., located in Xigebi, Qigexing Town, Yanqi Hui Autonomous County, Bayingolin Mongol Autonomous Prefecture.
The winery is situated at the edge of the alluvial fan of the Huola Mountains on the southern foothills of the Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang, with an average altitude of 1,100 meters. The soil is primarily composed of coarse sand, fine sand, and a small amount of gravel, ensuring excellent permeability and oxidation. The region enjoys a typical temperate climate with pristine air, free from industrial pollution, and benefits from 3,400 hours of annual sunshine. The average frost-free period lasts 180 days, with annual precipitation of only 67 mm and a daily temperature variation of around 15°C. Using high-efficiency drip irrigation technology, the vineyards are nourished by pure snowmelt water from the Tianshan Mountains, giving Xiangdu wines a unique and irreplicable natural advantage.

In 2002, the company completed its first-phase project, including a 3,000-ton wine production line and a 600-square-meter cellar. Using grapes from its own vineyards, it produced Yanqi Basin’s first natural red wine—Xiangdu Zuijiu (renamed “Jinbeina” in 2010)—marking the first step in the development of the wine industry in the Bayingolin region. In 2007, Xiangdu expanded with a second-phase 7,000-ton production line, and by 2011, it had built a 10,000-ton production capacity, along with a 3,000-square-meter premium underground cellar. All oak barrels are imported from France, and the bottling line features Italian-made equipment. The picturesque Xiangdu Winery has been recognized as a national AAA-level tourist attraction, becoming a shining landmark in Yanqi County.

Since its founding, Xiangdu Winery has collaborated with Dominique Roy, professor at CFPPA International Wine College, as well as Yang Huafeng, a member of the China Alcoholic Drinks Association’s Wine Expert Committee, and its own nationally certified sommeliers. Guided by the philosophy of “following nature’s rhythm” and “great wine begins in the vineyard,” Xiangdu leverages the exceptional natural resources of the Qigexing alluvial fan—soil, water, sunlight, heat, and air—to create organic, eco-friendly products. Committed to becoming a top-tier brand in Xinjiang and nationwide, the winery adheres to strict standards and continuously refines its core techniques to ensure premium quality. The principle of “one vine for one bottle, one acre for one barrel” is upheld throughout the entire winemaking process, blending traditional French techniques with Xiangdu’s pristine grapes to produce wines with distinctive Xinjiang character and international excellence, earning widespread acclaim. Since its market debut in 2004, Xiangdu has introduced several series, including Xiangdu Dry Red, Xiangdu Jinbeina, Xiangdu Lafite, Xiangdu Anthony, Xiangdu Reserve, and Xiangdu Brandy, offering a diverse range of wines and grape spirits.
